Cricket Umpiring in Colorado

All LCC playing members are required to understand the responsibilities of an umpire, and to perform umpiring duties a few times throughout the season.

Other information:
 

Toss:
15 minutes prior to scheduled started time.
Captains should exchange team cards
Toss winner should make bat/bowl decision immediately after toss.

Over the shoulder deliveries:
None allowed
Umpire should signal no-ball
Bowler should be warned
Bowler should be banned on third instance


High pitched deliveries:
Defined as "above waist in standing position"
Bowler should be warned
Bowler should be banned on third instance


Free Hit: 

Free hit should be signaled for all no-balls
If delivery for free hit is not a legitimate delivery, then free hit should be signaled for the next delivery.
Field changes only permitted if striker changed

 

Other information:
 

Runners:
Not allowed in Colorado cricket league

"No shot" run off the pad:
Umpire should signal dead ball
Disallow the run
Return batsmen to original position

 

Wides:
Use the line on the pitch
If lines are missing or faded; establish your 36" mark from the off stump and be consistent.
Remember, the line belongs to the umpire
 

Ground condition:
Umpires are responsible for assessing ground condition.
